Iris Ceramica at the heart of Kringlan, the iconic shopping center in Reykjavik

A perfect balance of design and functionality with Elementi Pietra di Sciara and Elementi Rivestimenti

For the recent renovation of the third floor of Kringlan, a symbolic shopping center in Iceland's capital, Iris Ceramica surfaces have helped transform the spaces, combining design and functionality.
In the "Kúmen" dining area, corridors, walkways, and cinema zone, Elementi Pietra di Sciara covers the floors with an elegant diagonal pattern and color variations, evoking the charm of outdoor boulevard pavé and adding dynamism to the space. On the walls, the brick format of Elementi Rivestimenti, with its soft finish, adds warmth and a handcrafted touch, creating an atmosphere of discreet and contemporary elegance.

The harmony between the two materials continues in the restrooms of the social gaming area Oche®, where the combination of Elementi Pietra di Sciara and Elementi Rivestimenti creates a visually striking effect, enhanced by the combination of colors and carefully considered details. The result is a functional, unique, and surprisingly Instagrammable space.
The surfaces of Iris Ceramica, chosen for floors and walls, demonstrate how ceramic design can enrich and enhance spaces, combining aesthetics and utility.

In the redesign of the spaces, Iris Ceramica materials played a central role. The "Kúmen" dining area, the vibrant heart of the floor, as well as the corridors and cinema zone, are characterized by floors covered with Elementi Pietra di Sciara, which guarantee aesthetics, resistance, and durability even in high-traffic environments. The surface, inspired by natural stone, recalls the pavé of boulevards and streets, giving visitors a sensation of walking outdoors. The area, with no sharp corners, was further enhanced by a diagonal installation and a clever color combination that creates a sense of movement and visual dynamism. Complementing this, Elementi Rivestimenti on the walls adds a handcrafted and sophisticated touch. As architect Paolo Gianfrancesco of THG Arkitektar explains: "By choosing Elementi Pietra di Sciara for the floor and Elementi Rivestimenti for the vertical surfaces, we combined tradition and innovation. We have a technological solution in the walking area that guarantees great resistance, while everything vertical has a much softer, almost handmade touch of old tradition."

The renewed Oche® entertainment area, a space for social gaming and gastronomy, surprises with a design that blends functionality and creativity. The floors with Elementi Pietra di Sciara and the walls with Elementi Rivestimenti integrate into a strong and unusual combination of colors, refined details, and the presence of plants and flowers. These spaces offer an immersive and unique experience, creating a "wow effect" that encourages visitors to take selfies to share on social media, highlighting the Instagrammable character of the space.

Iris Ceramica materials, chosen for the renovation of Kringlan, combine aesthetics and technical performance, making them ideal for high-traffic environments like shopping centers. Their resistance to wear and easy maintenance ensure long-lasting beauty.
