The Type 32 Slimtech collection by Lea Ceramiche, designed by Diego Grandi, won the 2016 ADI Golden Compass Honorable Mention.
The ceramic line, using Slimtech, the long sheet of the wood effect laminated stoneware tiles, 20x200cm size, 5.5 mm thick, begins from the matter but ends up transcending it.
The idea of the author of the project arises from the overlay of two layers: the first, more material, consists of a silk-screen, playing with plausibility and reproducing an essence. The second, more graphic, consists of a decoration, based on the repetition of the oblique line, declined in four patterns. The combination of more sheets creates the typical zig-zag effect calling to mind the traditional herringbone French floor. The creative concept focuses on four different combinable graphics and two tones, warm and cold. The inspirations range from art to graphics, to reinterpret floor material in a modern and decorative way, like a big characterizing carpet.
