BASE Milano, the young hub in Zona Tortona dedicated to multisectoral experimentation launches a summer course for international students aimed at redesigning the yard of the former Ansaldo area.
Coordinated by the Berlin group raumlabor, founded in 1999 and active in urban and architectural design, the “Temporary Urban Design Summer School” includes the development of a town planning project aimed at transforming the site from a loading-unloading area into an open space for the city.
The result of the work carried out during the fall/winter 2017-2018 will be then presented during the Milan Design Week 2018.
The initiative (July 3 to 16) specifically includes an intensive course held by professionals of various design disciplines, led by the raumlabor berlin team, with theoretical parts on green, landscape design, street furniture and lighting, as well as practical ones, such as surveys and analysis on the district requirements, planning of events to animate the new square, feasibility analysis, study of materials, executive design, prototyping and construction of the first modules.
Moreover, the participants will be welcomed at casaBASE, the creative residence of BASE Milano, where to sleep, exchange ideas and talk in the lively context of the Milan district.
