Brera Design District 2019: an invitation to "plan one's life"

The next meeting with the Brera Design District will be back at the next Fuorisalone 2019 (Milan, 8-14 April), now in its tenth edition and with a consolidated role as primary design district.

Also this year, there are several scheduled events, special projects and talks for the upcoming Brera Design Week, which in 2018 saw record numbers: 210 events and 395 exhibitors with a passage of over 350,000 people.

The tenth anniversary will involve many ambassadors: Marco Mari and Carlotta Borruto (Italia Innovation), Mauro Martino (IBM Research AI), Ivano Atzori and Kyre Chenven (Pretziada), Oliver Marlow (StudioTilt - Codesign), Mario Cucinella (MCA), Daniel and Markus Freitag (Freitag), Thayse Viégas (Casa Canvas), Aldo Cibic, Stefano Maffei (Milan Polytechnic), Ben Sheppard (Mc Kinsey Design Index). The central theme is “Design your Life, inspired by the book by Bill Burnett and Dave Evans (Designing Your Life: How to Build a Well-Lived, Joyful Life, Alfred a Knopf Inc, September 2016).

That is not just a theme but also an invite for a sustainable and conscious approach not only to architectural design and furnishings but also to our daily choices.

"MaterialiCasa AroundShapes"

MaterialiCasa by Tile Italia is joining the Brera Design District 2019 from 9 to 14 April, presenting a multisensory installation that explores the unconventional uses of materials, in an exceptional location in the heart of Brera (5, via Palermo) "MaterialiCasa AroundShapes".

A prestigious revisited ancient apartment will be the setting for an immersive journey that plays with volumes and perceptions, focusing on the material trends of contemporary architecture. Surfaces and design accessories will be the stars, interpreted in an unusual aesthetic way and expertly shaped to become integral parts of the furnishing system.

The Milan studio Azzolini Tinuper, expert in materials, color research and innovative technologies, is curating the project.
