For the first time in the history of Cersaie, a well-known designer will sign the set-up of the pavilions for bathroom furniture during the next edition, from September 25 to 29, 2017, in Bologna.
The project, curated by the well-known industrial designer Giulio Iacchetti, aims at strongly characterizing the areas dedicated to the sector with elegant and neat horizontal and vertical graphics.
With the attendance of more than 200 leading Italian and foreign companies, the bathroom furnishings sector is not only the second exhibition area of the show, but it is annually marked by a strong design component.
Iacchetti actually designs for several brands including: Abet Laminati, Alessi, Artemide, Ceramiche Refin, Danese, Fontana Arte, Foscarini, Globo, Magis, Moleskine, Pandora design. Among his main style features there is the research and the definition of new types of objects, such as the Moscardino that is a biodegradable multipurpose fixing, designed with Matteo Ragni for Pandora design and awarded in 2001 with the Compasso d'Oro.
In 2009, he was awarded the Prize of Prizes of Innovation bestowed by the President of the Italian Republic for the project Eureka Coop, with which he brought design into the Mass Market Retailers. In May 2009, the Triennial of Milan hosted his personal exhibition “Giulio Iacchetti. Oggetti disobbedienti” (“Giulio Iacchetti. Unruly objects”).
Always devoted to the evolution of the relationship between craftsmanship and design, in November 2012, he launched Internoitaliano, an “extended factory” consisting of many artisan laboratories with which he produces and signs furnishings and accessories inspired by Italian fashion and living. At the same time, he pursued his personal research towards new design themes such as the cross that started the exhibition Cruciale, held at the Diocesan Museum in Milan, at the Basilica of Santo Stefano Rotondo in Rome and at the Castle of Lombardy in Enna. In 2014, he won his second Compasso d'Oro for the series of manhole covers Sfera, designed with Matteo Ragni for Montini.
