The impossibility of guaranteeing an edition of Cersaie that would come up to its usual high standards has prompted the organisers to cancel this year’s event. Cersaie will be back from 27 September to 1 October 2021.
Not even the change of dates to November proved sufficient to allow for the organisation of a Cersaie that would live up to the expectations of a show whose greatest strength lies in its international scale. Despite their best efforts in recent weeks, the organisers have just announced the cancellation of the 2020 show and the dates of next year’s event, which will be held in Bologna from 27 September to 1 October 2021.
With one third of Cersaie’s exhibitors coming from 40 foreign countries and over 50,000 international visitors (47% of the total), the organisers accepted the requests and concerns of numerous international exhibitors and buyers, who were seriously worried that holding an event this year would simply be too early to justify the necessary levels of investment and planning, despite the progressive reopening of activities in many countries.
But Cersaie continues to look to the future, and already has a packed programme of events that will accompany its community during the 15 months between now and the next edition in 2021.
Among the various physical initiatives, the Press Cafés will be presented on Monday 28 September in Sassuolo, then on 9 November the Palazzo dei Congressi in Bologna will host a conference dedicated to the healthiness of ceramics in the design of residential and architectural spaces. These events will be accompanied by online activities focusing on topical issues for the world of ceramics and bathroom furnishings.
Ahead of the 2021 edition of the show, construction work is continuing on the Contract Hall, the space in Hall 18 dedicated to creating links between the world of ceramics and new product areas such as kitchens, outdoor design, indoor and outdoor finishes, lighting technology and home automation. It will also be the setting for Archincont(r)act, the area dedicated to high-quality world-class architectural firms.
Cersaie 2021 is also at work on another major new feature: combining a revamped physical exhibition with an immersive digital experience aimed at promoting and expanding participation on the part of exhibitors and visitors.
