During Coverings, in Atlanta (USA), at the Press Conference of Ceramics of Italy, the best American retailers and projects have been awarded at the award ceremony of the 28th Confindustria Ceramica North American Distributor Award.
This year the famous award went to Cancos Tile and Stone; which was collected by the President Mark Valva. Cancos Tile and Stone is a distribution company that, for over 60 years, has been selling high-end products from the best producers in the world; it holds 12 stores in New York and New Jersey, for a total area of 400,000 square meters.
During the evening, the winners of the 25th Ceramics of Italy Tile Competition were also announced. The competition selects the best architectural buildings in North America in which Italian ceramic tiles have been used. Here are the first classified in the different Categories:
- Residential category award: “Baltimore Slate House”, in Baltimore, Ziger/Snead Architects studio, using Imola Ceramica’s tiles.
Honorable mention to the project "Norwich" of West Hollywood, DI Group studio, using Refin’s tiles.
- Commercial category: “Sapphire”, made in Berlin, Studio Libeskind, using Casalgrande-Padana’s tiles.
Mention for the project “Venetian Isle Clubhouse” in Florida, Kay Green Design studio, with the use of tiles by Provence and Ergon.
- Institutional category: the project “Bergeron Centre for Engineering Excellence at York University” in the State of Ontario, ZAS Architects + Interiors studio, with the use of ABK tiles.
Special mention to “Holy Name of Jesus Cathedral” in Raleigh, O'Brien & Keane studio, that used Provence and Ergon products.
- In the new category Student, they awarded the project “Dover Street Market” in Miami, by Raquel Raney and Brennan Broome of the International University of Florida, which used tiles by Atlas Concorde, Ceramica Vogue and Ornamenta.
