The new Arpa HPL finish “Losa” won as “High Product Quality” at the Interzum Award: Intelligent Material and Design 2017 in the materials and surfaces category.
Introduced in October 2016 during the SICAM exhibition in Pordenone, Italy, the Losa finish is the result of two years of research and testing by ArpaLab, the ideas laboratory of Arpa Industriale that combines different departments within the company. It is a tribute to the tactile quality of slate stone with a great three-dimensional effect. The finish, with a structure that reproduces the 60 degree inclined cut, is combined with a selection of custom-made HPL decors especially designed to enhance its depth and beauty. It can be used in both vertical and horizontal applications in kitchens, bathrooms and furniture.
This is Arpa Industriale’s third Interzum Award. In 2011, the Naturalia collection won the “Best of Best” award while FENIX NTM®, the innovative nanotech material for interior design, received the “Best of Best” honor in 2015.
The “High Product Quality” award is given every two years to design achievements that are special in terms of their form and function. “The jury only awards this prize to products that set themselves apart significantly from comparable products thanks to their excellent design,” explained Matthias Pollmann, Project Manager at Interzum.
The ninth edition of the Interzum Award was organized by the Cologne Fair in conjunction with Red Dot. This year’s international jury was composed by Italian architect and designer Luisa Bocchietto, Martin Darbyshire (founder and CEO of tangerine), Ducth designer Dick Spierenburg, Professor Martin Stosch, and Peter Zec, founder and president of the Red Dot Award.
