For the fourth year in a row, the famous ceramic company Marazzi is one of the partners of the Milan Design Film Festival, the film festival dedicated to design that is part of the Fall Design Week sponsored by Milan Municipality and scheduled for October 6 to 9 at the Cinema Theatre Anteo.
“Having a Cigarette with Álvaro Siza”, this is the name of the documentary film showed. It deals with a conversation with the Portuguese designer, one of the most important names of contemporary architecture: Álvaro Joaquim de Melo Siza Vieira, winner of several awards and honors including the Pritzker Prize in 1992, the Wolf Prize for the Arts in 2001, the RIBA's Royal Gold Medal in 2009 and the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement of the 13th International Exhibition of architecture of Venice in 2012.
Directed by Iain Dilthey, the film goes into the life and, above all, the vision of the great architect, in his questioning about the essence and the purpose of making architecture.
The partnership with Milan Design Film Festival is just one of Marazzi initiatives dedicated to design and architecture. These initiatives find expression in the applied product research and in the constant dialogue with the designers, which often resulted in collaborations and partnerships.
“We enthusiastically support again a worthy initiative as the Milan Design Film Festival is”, the Marazzi Group CEO Mauro Vandini claimed. “The attention to architecture’s world needs is one of the cornerstones of our creation of contemporary ceramic and we are really pleased to present on this occasion a film that gives voice to a great architect as Alvaro Siza”.
The showing of “Having a Cigarette with Álvaro Siza” is scheduled for today, October 7 at 18.15, and on October 9 at 22.00.
