Millennials dream of the Smart Home, with automatic cleaning and virtual reality

Millennials dream of a smart home, with bathroom automatic cleaning and virtual reality. This is the result of the survey by Uniplaces, the European platform for online booking of student accommodation, which has analyzed the wishes of around 1,500 university students from 100 different nationalities.

For 34% of the students, living in a smart home is the best in terms of technology. 30% cannot probably stand cleaning the bathroom, wishing for the automatic cleaning. A more refined group of 17% students would like the 'music room' at home (probably without saving on watts and plant), followed by another 17% that would even desire a 3D Home Theater. Finally, the 4% would have a kit for virtual reality.

As for the services of the perfect house, the pool (27%) and the gym (24%) dominate this ranking. In terms of type of housing, attic and villa compete for the dream house podium, reaching respectively 34% and 32% of the preferences, while a reckless 7% would like to live in a tree house.

It’s clear that students are inexorably connected to technology and its constant and rapid change” Kerstin Meergans Papadopoulos, Head of Inbound Marketing at Uniplaces, comments. “However, the survey reveals a wider need for technology: the concept of 'smart home' has become a central among the expectations for the houses of the future”.
