Signed by one of the most prominent talents in the international architecture scene, Patricia Urquiola, the new showroom of Laufen Bathrooms opened its doors to the public November 8, in Madrid.
The location has two floors and a total of almost 200 square meters. Its design had the aim of shaping a warm and modern environment with a strong relationship between the designers and the displayed collections.
«Our idea was to create a space with different features, in a historic villa of the twentieth century, a new type of showroom, where people can also work», Patricia Urquiola said. «An elegant and sober space, with fine materials such marbles mixed with onyx, glass, resin and oak wood, inspired by materials that are generally used for the design of the bathroom».
«Patricia has been able to perfectly interpret the spirit of our company», Laufen’s Product and Marketing Director Marc Viardot claimed. «Collaborating with her has been an opportunity to exchange ideas, an exciting challenge that has totally met our expectations. We asked Patricia to represent the evolution of taste and consumers’ needs regarding the bathroom space: today functionality is no longer enough, everybody is looking for iconic objects able to meet both the aesthetic appearance and the functional one. We must give emotion to a function in order to transform a space into a piece of architecture, not only in a domestic context but also in major projects worldwide. Patricia has masterly given voice to this quest for emotion».
A space entirely dedicated to architects and professionals, created by the need to offer them a place where they can not only see the product range first-hand and interact with a qualified staff, but where they can also create tailored ideas, that is the main concept of the R&D Department of the Swiss company.
