Salone del Mobile.Milano is preparing for the 57th edition, scheduled from April 17 to 22, 2018. The expected exhibitors are more than 2,000: they will present products and solutions entirely dedicated to contemporary living.
“After the success in Moscow and Shanghai, the Salone del Mobile.Milano is going to be the world leader in international furniture and design. The presence of important companies, the organization of side events of great artistic-cultural value and the support of the Italian Trade Agency, which is aimed at strengthening the internationalization policy, are the ingredients that will give life to a unique and crucial event”, Emanuele Orsini, president of Federlegno Arredo Eventi, commented.
Also this year, the Salone Internazionale del Mobile will be in conjunction with the Salone Internazionale del Complemento d’Arredo, divided into the style typologies Classic:Tradition in the Future, Design and xLux. Alongside the two annual events, the EuroCucina biennials are back with the side event FTK (Technology For the Kitchen) and the Salone Internazionale del Bagno.
In this last sector, companies’ innovation trend towards sustainability will be consolidated: water efficiency, maximum alert against indoor pollution and health protection become key requirements for new modern bathrooms products.
SaloneSatellite, dedicated to under 35s, reaches its 21st edition, proposing the theme “Africa / America Latina: Rising Design – Design Emergente”. The young talents, coming from all over the world, will present projects halfway between new technologies and craftsmanship, a return to the origins of design and contemporary contaminations. The initiative aims at focusing on the South of the World, as Africa and Latin America are two wide areas of creativity and design. An exhibit on the two continents will be set up to show this design richness: two designers active in the recovery of social outcasts, the Campana brothers, Humberto and Fernando, will be the curators of the Latin America side; while the one for Africa will be curated by the French-Moroccan designer, Hicham Lahlou, founder of the Africa Design Award & Days, engaged in the promotion of the new generations of African creatives.
The SaloneSatellite Award is in its 9th edition: the competition is dedicated to the contact between supply and demand, entrepreneurs and designers, creativity and production. The 57th edition will also bring the event in the city: the Salone del Mobile will cross the borders of the Fair to arrive with a special event in the heart of Milan.
