From July 2016 to April 2017, 21 showrooms of G.E.T. Casa, located throughout the territory of China, will host the project "G.E.T. Casa for Ceramica Sant'Agostino Design Award - GSDA". The prize is intended for the representatives of the world of Chinese design and architecture and it is designed to create a direct connection to the entire indigenous design sector and allow Chinese designers and architects to show their own masterpieces to the world.
Born from a collaboration between Ceramica Sant'Agostino, Italian leader in the ceramic industry, and the Chinese retailer G.E.T. Casa, the contest will involve three levels of more than 1,000 Chinese architects and designer who will have the task of creating real works of art on an exceptional canvas: the DIGITALART collection, already awarded the prestigious ADI Ceramics Design Award and Architizer A +Jury Award. For the whole duration of the contest, the showrooms G.E.T. Casa are then transformed into unusual Art Galleries where the designers will compete in live performance dressing a tile DIGITALART White - in size 20x20 cm, created on purpose - with their own style.
The works will compete to three Awards: the "Most Popular Asia Award", the "Best Product Design Award" and the "Most Creative Design Asia Award".
Most Popular Asia Award
More than a thousand images of the works will be uploaded on the WeChat platform of G.E.T. Casa where, starting from mid-September, people will be able to choose the winner of the "Most Popular Asia Award". Besides, three lucky voters will be selected by drawing lots and they will get a voucher of 10,000 RMB each by G.E.T. Casa.
The works of the first forty classified will be digitalized into 3D illustrations and will become the protagonists of locations by Ceramica Sant’Agostino inspired to the contract world.
Best Product Design Award and Most Creative Design Asia Award
The top two scores selected by the jury in each of the regions hosting the 21 showrooms will compete for the Best Product Design Award and the Most Creative Design Asia Award.
The selection of the 42 finalists will be entrusted to three exceptional jurors: Luisa Bocchietto - famous architect, President of ICSID (International Council of Societies of Industrial Design) and past President of ADI (Association for Industrial Design), Simona Finessi - founder and CEO of ARCHMARATHON Awards, one of the most important international awards for architecture, and Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of PLATFORM Architecture & Design, and Roberta Mutti - senior architect and blogger with a passion for Marketing and Promotion.
Each juror will assign each work a score (from 0 to 10 points); the 2 winners, i.e. those who score the most points by the jury, will be announced in mid-November 2016.
The winners of the three categories will be offered a round trip flight and a stay of 4 days / 3 nights in Milan during the 2017 edition of the Salone del Mobile (April, 11-16). The prize also includes access pass to iSaloni fair for the whole duration of the event.
The ceremony of the three Awards will take place during the same Design Week at H2Otto, the exhibition space of Ceramica Sant'Agostino in Milan.
