Tessieri debuts at FuoriSalone with “Concreta” installation by STORAGEMILANO

The Premiata Fabbrica di Mattonelle A. Tessieri & C. Lucca, an Italian excellence in the production of graniglia and cement tiles, makes its debut at FuoriSalone with the installation "Concreta", an exploration of the seductive power of material.

This project marks the beginning of a new corporate journey, aimed at reinterpreting its artisanal heritage through a modern and innovative vision: at the heart of this evolution is the new artistic direction entrusted to STORAGEMILANO, a design studio operating across various fields, from architecture to product design, with a focus on materials, details, and forms, tasked with giving a contemporary identity to the brand’s rich heritage.

The installation by STORAGEMILANO takes place in a transitional space: the construction site of the new Magazzini Bracchi headquarters, a 600 sqm venue that, starting in autumn, will showcase products from a curated selection of furniture and material brands, including Tessieri, while offering a comprehensive service covering all phases of the construction process. A place in transformation, it becomes the stage for an evocative experience where Tessieri’s craftsmanship intertwines with STORAGEMILANO’s contemporary architectural vision and strong artistic references, immersing the audience in a world of its own.

The installation unfolds across three environments, each revealing an unprecedented aspect of the Tessieri world with the conceptual approach typical of STORAGEMILANO. Even the entrance, completely clad in white, becomes part of the experience: a suspended threshold between reality and narrative, illuminated by dimmable construction lights that guide the visitor along their path of discovery.

The first room is a reflection on the modularity and laying of Tessieri tiles. At the center of the scene, a black floor enchants, made with new cement tile strips designed by STORAGEMILANO and cut from the 20x20 cm format, laid in an Italian herringbone pattern: tradition reinterpreted with a couture look. The space, delimited by a white mesh fabric hanging from structural tubes, is illuminated by a spotlight highlighting the floor decoration. To stop and contemplate it, there are two matte black director’s chairs by Piastri 1961 with PVC seat and backrest.

In the second room, a material tapestry takes shape on the walls: white graniglia Tessieri tiles, fastened together with metal elements and suspended from a tubular grid, become a cladding that evokes tailor-like craftsmanship; they narrate a production process still carried out in small batches, with dedicated time, strictly manual and custom-made. The floor, dematerialized by a crumpled white fabric, hosts a white chair that creates a minimal observation point, while a wall projector illustrates the Tessieri production process with images by photographer Stefano Domenici of Milk Studio.

The third and final room is designed for a fully immersive and architectural experience: walls, floor, and ceiling are completely wrapped, while Tessieri tiles are stacked on the ground just as they are in the company during the long drying phase, alternating color and raw cement, transforming into pedestals on which old CRT televisions rest. A muffled atmosphere, far from the chaos of FuoriSalone, inviting calm contemplation of projections that reveal the charm of the material and the perpetuation of ancient techniques.
