The competition for the ASCER’s new edition of the Tile of Spain Architecture, Interior Design and Final Degree Project Awards is officially on track.
The ultimate aim of the Tile of Spain Awards, which after 15 years have a new identity, adopting a more contemporary image, is to promote the use of Spanish ceramic tiles in architecture and interior design (both in Spain and abroad).
The panel of judges for this sixteenth edition of the awards is chaired by Spanish architect Iñaki Ábalos and made up of internationally-acclaimed professionals working in the architecture and design sector inlcluding Ángela García de Paredes (Paredes Pedrosa Arquitectos), Víctor Navarro (Langarita-Navarro), Bak Gordon, Portuguese architect, Moisés Puente (2G’s editor), designer Martín Azúa and Ramón Monfort, from Castellón Architects Professional Association.
The project submission deadline is 24th October 2017. The Awards have a prize fund of 39.000 euros distributed among three categories: the two main categories are Architecture and Interior Design; the third is the Final Degree Project, targeting students of Architecture. The panel of judges are also entitled to give two special mentions in each category.
At the previous edition, the award in the architecture category went to a renovation project for two homes in Oropesa (Toledo) by the Paredes Pedrosa studio. The ‘TABA espazioa’ gastro space by Ibon Salaberria on the ground floor of the Tabakalera Culture Centre in San Sebastian, received the Interior Design award. And in the Final Degree Project the award went to the project entitled ‘In Situ’ by M Wesam Al Asali from the University of Cambridge.
