P-saico mosaic becomes bicolored

Mosaico+ interprets the two-tone trend with P-SAICO Mélange, a collection by Marialaura Rossiello for Studio Irvine. Designed in 2019, P-Saico has been recently enhanced with four bicolored palettes that are an original reinterpretation of the historic Venetian terrace. The mix of colors is perceived in different ways according to the tone of the grout used.
The collection P-Saico by Mosaico+ aims at introducing a new concept of mosaic. While the mosaic tiles are traditionally laid following a regular and geometric pattern, the rectangular P-Saico tiles are arranged randomly, with a variable joint (from 2mm to 6mm). Moreover, each tile has an irregular surface that creates a three-dimensional effect.
P-Saico randomness is yet apparent. Reduced to 1x3 cm fragments, the porcelain stoneware tiles of PSaico are supplied pre-assembled (300x320 mm) and the modules are combined with a perfect interlocking to lend visual continuity to the surface. The setting irregularity hence hides a careful balance of dimensions and distances. This regular randomness has been inspired by the Opus Incertum, a construction technique from the Roman era based on the use of small stones, irregularly cut and randomly laid.
For the great innovation it represents, the Mosaico+ P-Saico collection appears in the ADI Design Index 2020, the prestigious volume collecting the projects nominated for the Compasso d'Oro ADI 2022.
