Ceramica & Creatività : a project by Casalgrande Padana in collaboration with the Brera Academy of Fine Arts
Casalgrande Padana, in collaboration with the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, presents “Ceramica & Creatività”, a project promoting the value of porcelain stoneware. The project is coordinated by architect Roberto Semprini, lecturer and director of the Product Design course at the Academy’s Artistic Design for Business course.
The project kicked off in November with a workshop whose introductory session focused on presenting the Casalgrande-based company and the distinctive features of porcelain stoneware. Students then used this knowledge to create their projects, mainly inspired by the works of visual artists and the décors of Roman floors. In particular, they analysed the composition, focusing on aspects like three-dimensionality, fluidity, and overlapping lines, and applied their interpretation to the tiles.
Casalgrande Padana participated in this workshop, offering online revisions and confirming the company’s focus on environmental and creative innovation.
FUORISALONE
By the end of the workshop, students had developed innovative concepts of two-dimensional and relief décors and bathroom accessories with outstanding character. The aim was to turn these concepts into products without compromising their creativity.
The top projects were presented during the Fuorisalone 2024 at the Casalgrande Padana Showroom in Milan, located in the renowned Brera district. If these projects pass the further examination conducted by the technical office, the most promising ones could be put into production.
Fashion Tiles - Students: Balliana, Guariso, Colico
''Fashion Tiles'' comes from our passion for Fashion and Design. The tiles have a raised texture that refers to the folds that are created when a fabric is wet. Aesthetics, elegance and originality are the characteristic aspects of our project, where the reference to the ''wet' effect has been designed specifically for the bathroom. The Water element is therefore the starting point for our design idea, an element that since ancient times has been the symbol par excellence of life, rebirth and purification. The end result is a light "veil" that lies on the surface of the wall, between plays of light, shadows and reflections.
Luce – Student: Birsan
Observing the repetition, dynamism and development of the programmed art of Enzo Mari, a geometric pattern has been designed following the lines of the kinetic movement. The result is a vertical coating that releases speed and energy, not surprisingly it is as if light bands emerged: hence the title of the project.
Cactus - Students: Gallo, Swamy, Saporito
The tiles recall the shape of the cactus, a plant capable of living in very difficult conditions without losing beauty and vigour. It is a symbol of endurance and perseverance, therefore it gives the environment an atmosphere of resilience and elegance. The stylized natural shape present on the tiles, manages to create a sense of connection with nature contributing to the psychophysical wellbeing of the user and creating a relaxing and harmonious climate. Different colors are available depending on the need for furniture.
Diamond – Student: Semeraro
Asymmetric volumes and floating plastic lines define a pattern with irregular shapes, made harmonious by a game of edges and cuts that evokes the idea of abstraction and explosion typical of deconstructivism. Experimenting with inclination can take on different shades and shapes, changing perception of the texture that goes beyond traditional geometries through disharmonious and disarticulated forms. Different colors are available depending on the need for furniture.
