Brickell Flatiron: a new Italian design symbol in Miami

The new residential building in the Miami hub, that is now the higher of that economic and financial area, is bringing again the made in Italy brand overseas. Curated and presented on the 7th of June in Milan by CMC Group, development company founded by Ugo Colombo, the Brickell Flatiron, the last architecture and design work of the American group whose is expected to be completely built in 2018, is a 64-storey tower, 224 meters high, made with exclusive and high quality materials. The architect Massimo Iosa Ghini, founder of Iosa Ghini Associati, and the architect Luis Revuelta have also been involved in the ambitious project. The new construction is expected to become an important Italian icon in a city context that in recent years passed through a substantial conversion: from holiday destination for Americans into a true cosmopolitan city, the second after New York and among the top ten of the world.

The new high rise has 549 units, of which more than half have already been sold, and a Spa with view on the 64th floor suspended in the sky. For housing units, besides the spacious layouts thanks to the curved shape of the structure, 1 to 5 bedrooms, attics and duplex apartments are provided.

All units will be furnished according to a customized project, with Italian finishes and furnishings. The different areas of the apartments are designed to offer comfort, beauty, luxury and uniqueness to the inhabitants. The tower hall, where the curves that characterize the exterior reappear, is immersed in natural light that floods in through floor to ceiling windows, and it will be enriched with artworks by Julian Schnabel.

The kitchens are fully equipped by Snaidero, with steel countertops and stone shelves, stainless steel electric hob and oven, while the bathrooms have a double sink with chromed taps by Zucchetti, all imported from Italy. Lighting is recessed and floors are made with Italian porcelain stoneware. Each apartment has large elliptical balconies with panoramic view and several latest generation technological systems.

The common spaces and amenities reserved to condominiums, developed between interior and exterior, will offer Olympic-size swimming pool, movie theatre, a wine tasting area, a  space for events, games room and business center.

However, the best of the Brickell Flatiron is the Sky Spa located on the 64th  floor, suspended in the sky with a total view of Miami, which includes a rooftop pool, wellness center and fitness with therapeutic services, private Turkish bath, sauna and changing rooms. There is also a latest generation gym, of 586 square meters.

A sophisticated environment, thanks to the combination of raw materials such as onyx, ivory and marble combined with hot metals, brass, bronze and copper materials.

One of the aims behind the project was in fact to represent the elegance of the Italian design, recognized worldwide. “The purpose of our design approach with Brickell Flatiron is to represent the idea of accessible exclusivity and luxury”, Massimo Iosa Ghini claimed. “Each element, space, objects and furniture, has been designed using sophisticated and rich finishes with simple features and great attention to detail”.

Lighting is a key component of the whole project, using the contrast between soft and vibrant lights to distinguish between internal and external spaces of the Sky Spa, to give character to the spaces and arouse emotions.
