Fushifaru Maldives: behind the scenes of a luxury resort

In the Maldives, north of Malè, on the island of Fushifaru, a 5-star luxury resort was inaugurated at the end of 2017. The luxurious resort Fushifaru Maldives was built on the wide strip of sand that runs along the island, between the two canals that connect the lagoon to the open sea.

The accommodation, characterized by modern architecture, consists of 49 villas (44 Beach Bungalows and 5 Water Bungalows located on the beach or directly on the water), three restaurants and a wellness center. It also has a fully equipped gym with a view of the ocean and a wide range of water sports.

Fushifaru Maldives is located on the atoll of Lhaviyani and can be reached from Malè by seaplane with a flight of about 40 minutes. The 49 bungalows, available with or without a private swimming pool, were built following the most modern standards, respecting the local culture and using natural materials. Being located on both sides of the island, the customer can choose to admire the sunsets or the sunrises.

The company Muni Enterprise, a local retailer of the Italian company Litokol srl and leader in the Maldives in the design and supply of installation products, took part in the creation of Fushifaru Investments, a joint venture with the Maldivian government for the building of the amazing resort.

The works for the construction of Fushifaru Maldives lasted two and a half years and involved a wide range of Litokol products, selected for the construction of the main pool, the flooring of the Spa and the bedrooms of various houses, as well as large areas of external surfaces.

The project

  • The waterproofing system Aquamaster by Litokol was used for the large infinity pool. It is a liquid membrane ready for use in aqueous dispersion, elastic up to -5 ° C, chlorine-resistant, suitable for the waterproofing of wet environments in interiors and exteriors. The super-white cement adhesive Litoplus K55 was used for the laying of glass mosaic in shades of blue subsequently sealed with Starlike®, a two-component epoxy mortar with excellent chemical resistance. The outdoor Jacuzzi was installed and grouted with the same products used for the main pool.
  • The gym and the massage cabins of the Spa have been paved with wood-effect ceramics, laid with the cement-based adhesive K18, which can be used to lay ceramic tiles of indoors floors and walls. Litochrom, the high-performance cement sealant, was used for grouting.
  • For the laying of floors in bungalows’ bedrooms and external bathrooms - made using different materials (marble and natural stones, mosaic, ceramic) - K18 and Litochrom 1-6 were selected. The K18 cement adhesive was also chosen for the installation of external flooring, made of both ceramic and natural stone.
