Giving life to eight new upmarket housing units: this is the goal of the renovation of a prestigious historic architecture complex located in the Hampstead area of London, led by the architecture studio Squire and Partners.
The designers’ team especially focused on the preservation of the original features of the building, respecting the surrounding stylistic context, even at the time of the complete renovation of the pre-existing façade.
The premise of the preservation has also been maintained for the three large private gardens that - characterized by different levels of wood planking and enhanced with autochthonous plants - complete the architectural complex ensuring it a natural appearance.
The interior layouts were divided into three distinct vertical elements to match the existing building structure. The living space is now considerably expanded both by the basement level (from a structural point of view)and the open-plan conformation aiming to implement the fluidity between the rooms and the circulation of the natural light, filtered from the large windows overlooking outside. The central ideas of this interior design are the elegant style combining modern and classic and a palette of cool colors, skillfully warmed by the wooden parquet and the interiors’ doors.
Specifically, the customer wanted to emphasize the entrance area of the villa to make it immediately cozy. They appropriately chose Tekno by Oikos Venezia, the high performance armored door, with an internal recessed installation. The door, with eight glossy black glass parts and one made of steel, is inserted into a large boiserie installed with the Synua Wall System and coated with the same material.
Its full opening, with no visible hinges or screws, ensures continuity and lightness, representing not only a functional element but also a furnishing accessory integrated in the interior design.
