FILA Surface Care Solutions is among the brands involved in the new Louvre in Abu Dhabi, which is one the world's most ambitious cultural projects, signed by the French archistar Jean Nouvel and inaugurated on November 11 in the capital of the United Arab Emirates.
Within the museum city built on the sea, FILA - expert in the development and production of solutions for the protection of surfaces - handled the protection of the tubs and the external flooring made of Gray Limestone, by using the water-repellent solvent-based HYDROREP, FILAPW10 (the pre-laying water-based protective, against the rising of salts and other pollutants) and the water-based stain remover FILAMP90 Eco Plus.
“The intervention at the Abu Dhabi Louvre has been very demanding in terms of technical requirements”, Fabrizio Nicoli, Fila Middle East sales manager, commented. “We had to maintain the natural appearance of surfaces and offer a perfect waterproof protection in a very complex environment, because in the tubs seawater flows, which is rich in sodium, in a climate that is already very hot and humid. After a series of tests, our products have been chosen because performing and effective, even under these kind of conditions”.
In the UAE, FILA had already been involved in another project of great value, critical and demanding too: in the new Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi, the company managed the protective treatment of both indoor and outdoor surfaces. It was really challenging, because of the need of providing a long-term protection over an area of 450,000 square meters, in a difficult context due to sea proximity and high levels of humidity.
For this project, Fila provided the protective pre-laying against the rising of salts and pollutants FILAPW10 and HYDROREP.
In the Louvre and the new Presidential Palace, FILA products have been chosen as they maintain the natural beauty of surfaces both in external and internal areas and provide the best and most durable performance in highly difficult climatic conditions.
Fila also provided constant assistance in all phases of intervention, but especially during the application, which is pivotal for achieving the best protection.
The protective pre-laying FILAPW10 and the water-repellent HYDROREP are two of the main waterproofing solutions that Fila offers in the Middle East. It is a strategic market for the company: in 2013, the sixth branch was opened to consolidate the brand in the region and, then, to further expand the services in South Pacific Asia.
