About 20,000 people, including industry professionals, students and design enthusiasts, joined the initiatives promoted by the Milan Arch Week, the week dedicated to architecture under the artistic direction of Stefano Boeri, which ended on June 18 and held mainly at the Politecnico and the Triennale.
This first edition had a positive closure, validating the key role of architecture as social aggregator and symbol of culture, by engaging not only the people involved in the sector.
The event generated many reflections on various cross-cutting themes, including the future of great urban contexts, new ways of building and social housing, besides post-earthquake reconstruction, the recovery of the suburbs and the bond between architecture and common goods. At the same time, it stressed the influence it has on other lifestyle expressions such as photography, art, music and entertainment.
Between the lectures, the “Vesparch” and the scooter tours to discover the most innovative projects in the city, the Milan Arch Week involved internationals professionals, first of all Carlo Ratti, Benedetta Tagliabue, Carme Pigem by RCR Arquitectes (Pritzker 2017), Peter Eisenman, Francis Kéré.
