Reflecting Catalan modernism and the opening up of Barcelona in the nineteenth century, the Eixample district is one of the most picturesque in the city and home to some of its outstanding architectural jewels. They include the Basilica of the Sagrada Familia, Antoni Gaudí’s masterpiece, and the Sant Pau Modernist Precinct, designed by architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner.
In this artistic setting, we find the “Marina” project, a new generation block of homes, which combines classical interior design with the most avant-garde styles, using bright colours and elegant materials, an approach adopted by the Frank Van Waaijen studio, which has chosen some of the PORCELANOSA Group’s Premium collections to unify the design of each home with light and order as its main objectives.
Through large, open spaces, the designers have managed to link each decorative feature to the general concept of the home. An example is the Emotions E3.70 kitchen by Gamadecor with XTONE Liem Black Nature worktops, which opens out into the living-room through the use of light textiles, industrial hanging lamps and exposed brickwork walls. These elements are a perfect match for Porcelanosa’s Berna flooring, a ceramic collection that enhances the ubiquitous combination of stone and wood.
Neutral colours and rougher textures have been chosen for the bathrooms. Cubik Urban Caliza wall tiles by Venis, framed with Butech’s Pro-Part Black Aluminium decorative profile, and Noken Round taps combine perfectly with the white Arquitect toilet, also by Noken. The same colour range is used for the shower, which incorporates the Noken Round collection and contrasts harmoniously with the Urban Black flooring by Venis, for which Butech One Flex Premium adhesive was used to lay the tiles.
The second bathroom features a different style with white and beige as predominant colours. Porcelanosa’s Rodano mosaic expands the limits of the room and its whitish veins are balanced by Round taps and Gamadecor’s Skill bathroom unit, with a pull-out tray for keeping bathroom items tidy and gaining storage space.
