VOC-free color for Novacolor 2018

Novacolor – expert in paints and varnishes for design and architecture – launched three new color lines (Africa, Puro and Patina Minerale) to promptly meet the challenges of ecology and sustainability, by redesigning the production chain thanks to an agreement with the famous chemical company BAFS and increasing the number of green certified products.

The approach based on the Biomass Balance system signed by the German company allows, in fact, to reduce CO2 emissions in favor of renewable resources coming in particular from the exploitation of biomass.

Africa is one of these new sustainable products: it is a decorative finish for interiors with soft metallic pigments, which create different and pleasant effects of lights and reflecting colors.

Puro_Titanium & Voc Free, a matt water-based mineral paint for interiors, formulated with potassium polysilicate, which is odorless and free from Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) and Formaldehyde. In particular, Puro_Titanium & Voc Free contains an innovative mix of mineral charges that ensures hiding water-based paint without the use of Titanium dioxide. Its formulation makes it suitable for application on any kind of wall and synthetic paints. Its high breathability and alkaline nature help to preserve surfaces from mold growth.

In the glazing sector, a further advancement has been made with the new product Patina Minerale, a glaze based on silicates for interiors and exteriors, made by replacing the 100% of the fossil resources with renewable ones coming from the innovative biomass balance process. The chromatic effect resembles the ancient mineral systems’ coatings, with the possibility of obtaining tones and shades that depend on the used technique and the applied colors.

The Romagna-based company thus confirms its sustainability commitment. It was previously shown with formulation of paints such as CalceCruda, a microporous decorative coating with mineral origin, eliminating formaldehyde, selected for the Milan Triennale exhibition "999 questions on contemporary living".
