128 projects submitted by over 400 designers from 38 different countries: these are the figures of the contest Lighthouse Interior, promoted by Cerasarda, a brand of Romani Industrie Ceramiche Group. The final list has decreed 3 winning projects, 4 gold mentions, 10 honorable mentions and other 30 finalists.
“The projects that took part in the contest have high creative value and design relevance - Paolo Romani, AD of the Romani Group, comments. - This gives us even more satisfaction as it confirms our brand as the benchmark in the international landscape of ceramic design”.
The purpose of the contest was to define a collection of ceramic furnishing accessories inspired by the myth of lighthouses and coastal towers to create new products for luxury accommodation, following the renovated attention to these buildings, aiming at an innovative use. The competition included the design of objects to be included in this context, which had to be based on ceramic materials.
The project Horizon by Marta Koniczuk (Poland) was the winner: she won a prize of 5,000 euro and the chance to see the collection in the brand line Cerasarda Atelier. The concept interprets the idea of sea-based relaxation: floating bathtub, sink and lantern with ceramic pattern of crystallized salt enclosed in the vertical shape of a fishing float.
The second winning projects is the one by Frost team (Italy), composed by Andrea Maria Stefani and Erika Frosi, which includes a series of ceramic lamps. The Monik team (Italy) by Monica Orsini was the third, with the collection of lights inspired by marine sponges and coral.
An international jury composed of famous professionals selected the winners: Savin Couelle, Manuel Aires Mateur, Martino Gamper, Clemente Busiri Vici, Ken Eastman, Alberto Bassi and Paolo Romani.
