Triennale, the four times curved tile designed by Gio Ponti and Alberto Rosselli for Marazzi in 1960, is on display at the MAXXI Museum in Rome, within the great retrospective that, forty years after his death, collects archival materials, original models, photographs, books, magazines and design classics on the figure of the architect Ponti.
The exhibition - curated by Maristella Casciato and Fulvio Irace with Margherita Guccione, Salvatore Licitra, Francesca Zanella and made in collaboration with CSAC (Study Center and Communication Archive of the University of Parma) and Gio Ponti Archives - aims to study and convey the multi-faceted activities of Gio Ponti starting from the story of his revolutionary research around architecture, 'scenario and rescue of our life'.
In the section of the exhibition “Architecture is a crystal”, the curators wanted to interpret Triennale as a form of art, generating other forms besides respecting the concept of Ponti's finished shape. The two compositions (30x46.5 and 10x15.5 cm format), both made with the black stoneware tile, frame the sketches originally designed by the architect.
Triennale has now an iconic shape that can be applied to any Marazzi collection, declined in any color or texture
