The theme chosen for the second edition of SUSAS - the most important event of city planning, architecture and public art in Shanghai - deals with the frenetic multiplication of connecting devices, on one hand, and the solitude of people and the absence of real interaction, on the other hand.
On the Huangpu River waterfront, within the large silos structure of Minsheng Harbor, it will be paid attention to the places and practices of connecting and disconnecting in the metropolitan public space.
The event will be curated by a team of professionals made up of the famous Italian architect and town planner Stefano Boeri, Dr. Li Xiangning - Ordinary Professor as well as Presidential Assistant of the University of Tongji of Architecture and City Planning - and the artist, international critic and curator of public and modern art Fang Zhenning.
Moreover, Studio Boeri will realize for the entrance of the big silos an installation dedicated to Metropolitan Game. There will be a series of areas where the positive energies of playing as a form of interaction and antidote to solitude (caused by an excessive intangible relationship) will be highlighted.
By the end of September 2017 SUSAS and for the next three consecutive months, Minsheng Harbor will be the stage of events, workshops, researches and performances that will jointly present and exhibit international case studies, projects and special joint exhibits that will collect projects and researches of the most interesting international art and architecture designers and studios, including BIG, Diller Scofidio+Renfro, Peter Cook, Heatherwick, Anish Kapoor, Daniel Buren, Francis Kéré, Alejandro Aravena, Snøhetta.
