The star player in the Year of Italy in Latin America is undoubtedly the Italian design on display at the exhibition entitled "The universal language of Italian design", which showcases the award-winning products from the latest edition of the Compasso d'Oro, a prestigious international design award.
The new products will be accompanied by a selection of award-winning pieces from the 60-year history of the award -one for each decade - and a series of films that put Italian manufacturing into its social context as of 1954.
Promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and ICE (the Italian foreign trade institute) in conjunction with the ADI (industrial design association), the exhibition will run until 11 October at MAC, the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo in Lima (Peru), and from 19 November to 8 December at the Universidad de Los Andes Bogotá, in Colombia.
The aim of the initiative is to shed light on the universal nature of design (Italian design in particular), and its contribution to strengthening international relations in both the cultural and industrial spheres. The event will include meetings with designers, researchers, students and manufacturers.
