Cotto Cusimano for Hotel Conca D’Oro, Positano
The timeless elegance of terracotta characterizes the evocative settings of a high-end accommodation facility in the heart of the Amalfi Coast.
In the enchanting panorama of the Amalfi Coast, where architecture, landscape, and hospitality merge, the Hotel Conca d’Oro in Positano stands out for a project that enhances its outdoor spaces, combining Mediterranean charm with excellent materials. Overlooking one of the most iconic stretches of the coast, the hotel originated from a private villa in the 1940s and still retains the intimate charm of a period residence, enriched by architectural interventions that have enhanced its authentic character. The interiors welcome guests with warm and bright atmospheres, featuring panoramic terraces, sea views, and refined details that speak to a deep connection with local tradition. In this setting, Cotto Cusimano terracotta, chosen to clad certain outdoor areas and interior spaces of the hotel, helps create a refined architectural narrative, flowing through spaces with naturalness, continuity, and style.
For the project, the Prestige 25x25 cm square format was chosen, paired with a 6x6 cm glazed "tozzetto" (small tile), in a compositional interplay that alternates solids and voids, matte surfaces and ceramic reflections, creating elegant, understated, yet highly scenic patterns.
The Prestige collection fully expresses the concept of material as a living and dynamic design element. Soft to the touch and visually enveloping, its smooth and silky surface naturally integrates into the hotel's architectural language, adding a note of refined continuity between interior and exterior, between contemporary comfort and local tradition.
In such a context rich in beauty and history, terracotta is not merely a finish but the true skin of the architecture, capable of absorbing light, warmth, and atmosphere. The choice of the Prestige line meets aesthetic, functional, and sensory needs: a natural, resistant, and unalterable surface that adapts elegantly to both classic and modern spaces. The alternating laying of the square tile and the glazed "tozzetto," in particular, enriches the visual identity of the hotel's outdoor areas, creating a continuous yet vibrant texture that dialogues with the surrounding environment without ever overpowering it.
