The famous English e-commerce, Made.com, promotes for the fifth consecutive year the Emerging Talent Awards, a competition that gives international emerging designers the possibility to make their products and sold them on the platform.
The theme of this edition is the versatility of the materials, inspired by the V&A Plywood exhibition, supported by the company, which will be inaugurated in London on July 15 and dedicated to plywood, a material that is often overlooked but finds many applications in design and architecture.
«The Emerging Talent Award is a great opportunity for all designers who want to change the direction of their career in a difficult industry», Ruth Wassermann, the design manager of MADE.COM, claimed. «Searching for new talents is an extremely important part of our brand and the one we will continue to invest in. I look forward to seeing how designers will respond to the theme of this year based on the inspiration from materials. We are always surprised by the great quality of the projects they present and we are sure this year will not be an exception».
The first selection will be made by a special jury, made up of Ruth Wassermann, Simon Pengelly, designer, Kate Watson-Smyth, interior design expert, Christopher Wilk, co-curator of the V&A Plywood exhibition and the last year’s winner duo from the Italian studio KIMXGENSAPA, located in Carpi.
The selected projects will be published at the end of July on the website to be voted by the users. The winner will be awarded during the London Design Festival, scheduled from September 16 to 24 at the Made.com showroom.
