Mapei for TownHouse Milan in Piazza Duomo

Established in Milan in 2010 as a result of a partnership between Alessandro Rosso and the architect Simone Micheli, the "TownHouse Street" brand is all about the structural and conceptual re-interpretation of former shops and offices, which are converted into studios and suites, to provide a refined, new slant on hospitality.

This new philosophy of hospitality finds expression in buildings that look directly out over the city, where the streets and piazzas take on the role of entrance hall, in almost the same way as for an ordinary private house. This innovative project has catalysed the interest of the national and international media, and earned the sponsorship of the Municipality of Milan for its contribution to the upgrading of urban areas.

Within the framework this project, following the opening of TownHouse Street Milan, 33 Via Goldoni, the inauguration of TownHouse Street Milan, 21 Piazza Duomo was held on 19 February.

Designed by Italian architects and overseen by the  Milan Academy of Fine Arts, the project involved the construction of  14 Suites, 12 of which directly overlook Piazza del Duomo, offering fine views of the cathedral. The reception area is located on the fourth floor, so as to put customers in immediate touch with the beauty of the city, thanks to the view of the cathedral. The fifth floor plays host to a wine bar with a range of  7,200 Italian wines.

Simone Micheli designed  Suite No.10, known as the "Swan Room", and Mapei took part in the work, as well as in the building of various areas of the hotel, by supplying products and a full range of know-how. The wood flooring in the suites, corridors and communal areas, for example, was laid using Ultrabond Eco P909 2K, a solvent-free two-component polyurethane adhesive with very low emissions of volatile organic compounds (EMICODE EC1 R), which is ideal for all types of wood flooring.

The other contractors who took part in the building of Suite No. 10 include Spazio 08 - Glass&Design, a Modena-based company, which supplied all the mirrors and the high-performance glass wall for the shower cabin. The same company also supplied the magnificent frontage window of the TownHouse directly overlooking Piazza Duomo.
