A new nursery school, built inside the UniCredit Pavilion in Piazza Gae Aulenti in Milan inaugurated at the end of July was unveiled on 17 September.
The event was attended by Alessandro Balducci, Town Planning Commissioner for the Municipality of Milan, Paolo Cornetta, Head of Human Resources at UniCredit, Carla Rinaldi, Chair of Reggio Children, and the architect Nicholas Bewick.
Aimed at the children of Unicredit employees and local residents alike, the nursery school is equipped with extensive areas designed to facilitate interaction between pupils, and technologies that offer a multi-disciplinary experience, in which the use of English as well as Italian will sow the seeds of flexible, multicultural mental development.
Mini Tree's rooms, furnishings and multimedia equipment were designed for up to 60 children aged between 3 and 36 months, in accordance with the pedagogical philosophy of Reggio Children, whose aim is to make "the child, who learns through 100 languages" the focal point of the school and the entire educational concept.
A multisensory, multimedia approach therefore lies at the heart of the school, which is equipped with a 60-inch touchscreen, a multimedia table which emits sound and light, an audio system for promoting the development of musical sensitivity, areas for elementary cooking and gardening activities, and a single large hall to encourage the development of pupils' interpersonal skills.
