The Olmo effect by Ceramiche Piemme for the new Aero Gravity in Milan

Designed as an essential element, with its bright red, the new Aero Gravity in Milan, the world's largest free fall simulator inaugurated in Pero in 2017, stands out in the skyline of the Expo area with its 31 meters. The Architecture studio Apostoli&Rigamonti, curator of the project, chose Ceramiche Piemme floor tiles for the interiors of the structure.

«The wooden element perfectly integrates the materials used for the project», the architect Alessio Rigamonti explained, «we have chosen the Olmo effect of the Cottage collection, among the different porcelain stoneware tiles, for the warm and natural tones of the slats version: it is the perfect solution for the high foot traffic of simulator and bar area».

The design of the interiors pivots on the large transparent cylinder of the simulator (diameter: 5.20 mt; total height: 21 m of which 8 made of crystal; volume: 455 cubic meters) and is inspired by the analysis on colors of Joseph Urban, using blending elements for the ceiling of the flying room and a green carpet to dampen the noises of the simulator. The airflow, produced by 6 large turbines, is conveyed into the flying room and can reach a speed of 370 km/h by canceling the gravity force and thus allowing the floating experience.
