During the 100th Giro d'Italia, the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) and the world leader company in building products Mapei renew the partnership agreement for a three-year period, from 2017 to 2019.
The collaboration, launched in 2008 with the Road Cycling World Championships in Varese, thus strengthens the relationship between the International Federation and the Italian company that will be Main Sponsor for the next three editions of the Road Cycling World Championships, in 2017 in Bergen (Norway), in 2018 in Innsbruck (Austria) and in 2019 in Yorkshire (Great Britain).
Mapei has a long-standing relationship with cycling: the company sponsored, from 1993 to 2002, the UCI professional cycling team, which was named after it and won the Paris-Roubaix race four times, with champions including Michele Bartoli, Andrea Tafi e Franco Ballerini. Mapei was also partner of several UCI Road World Championships, Mountain Bike and Cyclo-Cross. Moreover, Mapei collaborated at the opening of the UCI World Cycling Center in 2002, with its Mapei Sport Research Center.
Mapei's President Giorgio Squinzi claimed: «Mapei is happy to continue its fecund collaboration with UCI and carry on with its commitment to sports and cycling, founded on common values: hard work, collaboration and determination in facing new challenges».
