A lush open garden at the center, planted with autochthone trees and plants, is the hallmark of the new project of architects Foster + Partners for the Tocumen Airport’s Terminal 2 in Panama.
Designed to reflect the local tropical landscape, with the purpose of welcoming visitors and avoiding them the usual anonymity of the airport experience.
The two symmetrical wings of piers, extending to the east and west from the central concourse are unified beneath the aerodynamic roof of 50,000 sqm area, covered with Riverclack®550 bronze-colored panels, of the same warm shades of the stone used for the interiors. A deep overhang protects the glazed facades from solar gain.
