In conjunction with UNIMORE - University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, the Fondazione Filippo Marazzi is holding a second edition of the "Filippo Marazzi Degree Award" dedicated to the memory of one of the Italian ceramic industry's greatest entrepreneurs.
A first prize worth 5,000 euros and two special mentions worth 2,000 euros each will be awarded to three young graduates at Italian universities or polytechnics in academic year 2013/14, who achieve a high level of distinction in their degree theses on the subject "Internationalisation and Italian Products".
The "Filippo Marazzi Award" is open to students who graduated no later than 30 April 2015, with a minimum final mark of 105/110. The competition announcement is available on the websites of the "Marco Biagi" Department of Economics of UNIMORE and Marazzi.
The prizing-giving for the "Filippo Marazzi Award" will take place in the next few months at an event to be held by the Marco Biagi Department of Economics of UNIMORE, in conjunction with Marazzi Group. The event will be attended by students, business people and academics, who will discuss the subject of "Innovation as a driver of internationalisation for Italian companies".
41 students from 20 institutes took part in the last edition, which was won by Ismet Balihodzic, the author of a study on "The strategic sell-buy gap in the internationalisation of furniture companies on the US market", which won the approval of the Scientific Committee and scooped the 5,000-euro prize.
"There are many reasons for taking this initiative," explained Prof. Tiziano Bursi of the Marco Biagi Department of Economics, who is tasked with overseeing the organisation of the second edition of the award. "Filippo Marazzi is one of the Italian ceramic industry's most important entrepreneurs. Innovation and internationalisation were the two main planks of his strategy to build Marazzi into a world-leading company. This award keeps his memory alive and provides young people with a stimulus to set themselves ambitious goals in their studies and in the world of work."
Angelo O. Andrisano, Rector Magnificus of the University, expressed his «gratitude for this initiative by the Marazzi family, which is in keeping with the spirit of the far-sighted entrepreneur. Our university is proud to have awarded him an honorary degree in 1992. Filippo Marazzi always showed a keen awareness of the importance of research, ongoing cooperation between businesses and universities, and the training and professional development of young people."
