Istituto Marangoni and Cappellini are set to launch the third edition of their contest, this year named Create His-Story with Ceramic figurines, international design contest for the creation of a piece of furniture in the form of a ceramic figurine.
‘Create His-Story with Ceramic Figurines’ is inspired by the story of the porcelain figurines collector Kaspar Utz, by Australian writer Bruce Chatwin, and the misfortunes he faces in the attempt to preserve his fragile treasure. Aimed at aspiring designers from around the world, participants in the context are requested to design a decorative figurine in ceramic or porcelain, with a size limit for height of 15 cm, depicting real or imaginary characters. The work must be submitted by 9thJune, 2017, complete with sketches, color rendering and a report about the reasons and sources of inspiration of the project.
A jury composed of the School of Design Teaching executives, together with professionals from the Italian and international design industry, will evaluate the projects on the basis of their consistency with the theme of the competition, innovation and concept synthesis. The winner will be awarded with a scholarship offered by the Cappellini group to participate in the October 2017 intake of Italian Product & Furniture Design Master’s course held at Istituto Marangoni School of Design in Milano, in addition to an exclusive internship opportunity at Cappellini’s.
