More than 1,000 Chinese architects and designers were involved in the project 2016/2017 G.e.t. Casa x Sant'Agostino Design Award – GSDA, born from the collaboration between Ceramica Sant'Agostino and the Chinese retailer G.e.t. Casa, whose official ceremony award was held in the H2Otto space, in Via Crucifix in Milan, just during the Design Week.
The challenge set by the ceramic brand from Ferrara included the creation of true artworks on a special canvas, the collection DIGITALART, inserted in the prestigious ADI Design Index 2016 and awarded with the ADI Ceramics Design Award and the Architizer A+Jury Award.
During the contest – from July 2016 to April 2017 – the showrooms of the local dealer turned into art galleries where designers, taking on live performances, interpreted and decorated a White DIGITALART tile, 20x20 cm format, according to their own personal style.
The works were firstly judge by popular jury and then by a panel of experts with Luisa Bocchietto, Simona Finessi e Roberta Mutti, for three awards: the Best Product Design Award won by Mr. Chen Gen Hua “for his ability to combine the eastern sensibility with the features of industrial production”; the Most Creative Design Asia Award bestowed to Mr. Lin Jia Gan “for the strong decorative effect recalling the tradition”; and the Most Popular Asia Award won by Ms. Lin Wei, thanks to the development of the concept taken from the “Avatamsaka Sutra”, according to which “no path is simple and straightforward, but you have to follow your heart and make dreams come true”.
Moreover, the first forty classified projects will be digitized and processed in 3D illustrations, becoming the stars of locations signed Ceramica Sant'Agostino inspired by the world of contract.
