Nerosicilia and the new expressions of lava stone at Fuorisalone

Nerosicilia, a Made in Italy company specializing in the processing of volcanic stone, explores the relationship between matter and music by presenting the innovative Cubo within a site-specific project in the heart of Brera from April 7 to 13.

Cubo, a new speaker designed by Nerolabstudio in collaboration with DoDeca, embodies the fusion of aesthetics and technology. A minimalist-designed object sculpted in stone, it conveys the depth of matter through the purity of sound.

Sinfonia Vulcanica, an installation by Leonardo Talarico, serves as the narrative frame for Cubo. The artwork celebrates the intersection of nature and sound: an out-of-scale grand piano, nine meters high - crafted from metal and volcanic stone by master artisans - stretches infinitely with its keyboard, dissolving into the sky.

From the heart of this monumental instrument, Cubo speakers emerge—audio units with shifting tones, blending technology and poetry, capable of transforming silence into a vibrant harmony.

Cubo seamlessly adapts to any setting, indoor or outdoor, delivering powerful and crystal-clear sound. Its Bluetooth technology allows up to 100 units to connect simultaneously, creating immersive and unprecedented soundscapes.

Within Sinfonia Vulcanica, silence transforms into melody through Cubo: notes played by talents from the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory of Milan resonate through the stone, reverberating in the air, becoming echoes and memories.

On the ground, a mirrored platform infinitely multiplies the keyboard, creating a play of reflections that enhances the bond between music and matter. Here, musicians from the Conservatory intertwine their harmonies with the breath of the stone, in a performance that blurs the lines between the visible and the audible. A moment that celebrates the dialogue between nature and sound, past and present, silence and symphony.

The narrative of Nerosicilia’s innovations continues in its showroom at Via Solferino 18, transformed into a stage for new inspirations, where the Bluse collection debuts with an explosion of colors. A meeting of art, design, and memory, Bluse transforms volcanic stone into a poetic and vibrant surface, telling a story of light and color.

Designed by Jpeglab, Bluse draws inspiration from the iconic sailor blouses worn by women in the late 19th century, paying homage to the female figures painted by Pierre-Auguste Renoir in Le Moulin de la Galette. Just as Impressionist brushstrokes capture light, Bluse surfaces dance between shadow and brightness.

Through the Colorfield technique, the striped composition of the covering transforms volcanic stone into a vibrant textile, evoking dreamlike, suspended atmospheres. From deep shades of black and white to lively touches of red, lilac, and indigo, and softer hues of sugar-paper blue, meadow green, and sand yellow, each combination tells a story - an interplay of colors that enriches spaces with a unique material dimension.

With Bluse, Nerosicilia continues its journey of research and innovation, reinterpreting tradition through a contemporary lens. A voyage through color, material, and inspiration, bringing a new artistic and sensory expression to contemporary spaces.

Nerosicilia’s exploration of material and design extends to the NEXT PLACE HOTEL project at Via Savona 35, a concept by Giulio Cappellini that delves into the evolution of contemporary hospitality. Within this setting, Campoa volcanic stone tile designed by Giuseppe Arezzi—finds its place.

Featuring a green glass decoration that geometrically abstracts traditional Sicilian majolica motifs, it evokes a meadow in the Iblean countryside. Made with recycled glass from discarded TV and computer monitors, Campo represents a perfect balance between innovation and sustainable craftsmanship, turning material into a story.

In Cappellini’s installation, which reimagines hospitality spaces with a fluid and sustainable approach, Campo is placed in the courtyard, where its modular design creates a dynamic and vibrant surface. It is a meeting of tradition and modernity, memory and innovation, where material becomes the protagonist of contemporary living.
