At the boarding area E of the airport Leonardo da Vinci in Rome Fiumicino, the new lounge Casa Alitalia was inaugurated on June 11. Designed by the Studio Marco Piva as the third design collaboration for the national Italian airline, the format will be then exported overseas in the prestigious lounge of New York JFK.
“The new lounge Casa Alitalia, in Rome, is the result of the analysis on spaces, materials and details by the Studio Marco Piva”, the designer Marco Piva explains. “This resting and refreshment area has been designed to welcome travelers by conveying the Italian lifestyle through design, hospitality and comfort at the highest levels of excellence”.
With a surface of 1000 square meters, the lounge is characterized by a careful functional analysis of the environments aimed at the creation of several areas to meet the needs of different types of users - from tourists to businessperson - with thematic areas including the wine cellar, the relaxation area and live show cooking.
The iconic signs of the design lies in the large entrance gate made of Travertino Titanio, the strong geometries of the coverings, the contrast between several materials - such as Alulife aluminum, Brand Glass, the new generation laminate FENIX by Arpa Industriale - and products supplied by the most prestigious companies in the Italian manufacturing sector (including Ceramica Cielo, Flos, La Palma, Marazzi, Martinelli Luce, Poltrona Frau).
Finally, the ornamental objects have been carefully selected, such as the books for the imposing 3x7 meter bookcase, in which elements of the ceramic collections Bitossi and Richard Ginori were also used.
