Occupying a surface area of 200,000 square metres and dominated by the magnificent setting of the River Qiantang, the Metropolis 79 project developed by Vanke and designed by the American architect Robert Stern is a residential complex reaching a maximum height of 120 metres. Based on a decumanus (main axis) and cardo (transverse axis) layout, it encompasses a dwelling area that is majestic and peaceful in equal measure.
The design is one of Stern's best works, with a perfectly symmetrical structure incorporating four towers, one at each corner, so that whatever angle you see it from, the skyline develops as a harmonious unit. The proportions are balanced and the luxurious interiors make the project a perfect example of neo-classical architecture.
